God Revealed; The Law

These are familiar forms, the Burning Bush and the Tablets of the Law, recalling the stories of Moses and the wandering in the desert--they are specific references to how God manifested himself, and the Giving of the Law on this mountain. There are New Testament parallels here as well. The Law (represented by the tablets) was fulfilled, satisfied by the sacrifice of the Christ. The burning bush becomes the tree of the cross, on which is hanged the sacrificial Lamb of God--and this is also a tree which is not consumed as the lamb will live again.
